6K+ Ballots Already Cast In Fairfax City: See Latest Data
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Fairfax City voters have cast 6,746 early in-person ballots as of 5 p.m. on Saturday. That’s more than twice the 2,885 in-person votes cast during the 2022 early voting period. In addition, the city’s Office of Elections reported already receiving 1,543 by-mail ballots.
Wannicha Rojanapradith, the city’s general registrar and director of elections, told Patch on Monday that there were 18,416 registered voters in Fairfax City. Adding together the early and by-mail ballots, 8,289 city voters have cast ballots in the 2024 general election so far or 43.86 percent of the total number of registered voters.
Fairfax City election officers are working on Election Day because they want to give back to their community, according to Rojanapradith.

“They’re not actors of parties or organizations, and they’re definitely not doing this for the pay,” she said. “These are your friends, neighbors, and community members. They’re working long hours to ensure that every qualified City of Fairfax voter gets to cast their votes and that every valid ballot is counted. They’re doing this with the sole purpose of assisting and servicing Fairfax City’s voters. Please be kind to the election officers in your polling locations and thank them for their service.”
Part of the process of running the elections is to ensure that all of the voting equipment is up and running so that voters will be able to cast their votes without any concerns.

“We conduct logic and accuracy tests on all of our voting equipment prior to each election. These tests are certified by the City of Fairfax’s Electoral Board,” Rojanapradith said. “We do not foresee any technical issues to occur on Election Day. We have backup equipment on hand, equipment specialists on call, and contingency plans in place should our polling locations experience any technical issues or other out-of-ordinary circumstances.”
Fairfax City polls are open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday. Voters must vote at their designated polling locations, visit Virginia Dept. of Elections: Polling Place and Ballot Information Lookup to find their polling locations. Voters must bring an Acceptable ID with them, visit Virginia Dept. of Elections: Do I need an ID to vote? for a list of Acceptable IDs.
At the end Tuesday night, Fairfax City’s unofficial election results will be posted on the Virginia Department of Elections website: State Election Results.
