The Hopman Cup Tournament Director and all the organizers already rejected to reveal the appearance fee that they are paying to Roger Federer to play the team competition event this week. But, according to Perth Now, the Swiss player got , equivalent to USD$1.4 million, to compete in Perth.

Federer also promoted the Western Australia tourism visiting The Pinnacles before the tournament, and he shared the pictures on his social media channels getting a lot of likes. The Western Australia Government helped the Hopman Cup to pay Federer the fee.

In the last three years, Federer earned $4.2 from Hopman Cup appearance fees. He is competing with Belinda Bencic, and its unknown if the tournament winners get an extra amount of money. Meanwhile, in an interview Federer commented on the Australian Open introducing a fifth set tie-break: At the end of the day, I dont think it matters much.

Once you cut away the fifth set long set, its a bit unfortunate because back in the day the fit guys were thinking We really dont need that. The problem is when it really does go deep, you can just about forget about winning the title because the game has gotten so physical and so taxing mentally with the pressure and everything.

I understand why they do it. Im not for or against it. Im OK either way. I like traditions and I would have been OK if they kept it the way it was. But to be honest, at 6-all in the fifth, its not as if you havent had enough time to win it.

Its like penalty shootout they also had their chance to win it. Now we have four different ends to the four grand slams so the goal is achieved with variety. ALSO READ: Rafael Nadal: Worse players than David Ferrer won a Grand Slam title
